He previously worked for the NHS at Medway Hospital alongside his private practice but is now an independent consultant rheumatologist. Whilst working for the NHS at Medway Hospital, Dr Gerald George was the lead clinician for the Rheumatology Department for seven years and also the Clinical Director for Planned Specialty Medicine that included rheumatology, dermatology, neurology and genito-urinary medicine.

Dr Gerald George  as a consultant rheumatologist and physician sees adult patients covering all aspects of adult rheumatology including; inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, connective tissue diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren’s syndrome, systemic sclerosis, osteoarthritis, gout, polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) & giant cell arteritis (temporal arteritis or GCA), metabolic bone diseases, osteoporosis & osteomalacia, back pain, and soft tissue rheumatism which includes tendonitis, tenosynovitis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow and plantar fasciitis.

Dr Gerald George performs procedures including;  joint and soft tissue injections. Dr Gerald George performs musculoskeletal ultrasound in the context of early inflammatory arthritis.
